Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you are a new customer or a new worker, here are a few frequently asked questions and responses to help guide you.  However, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly for more information as our experienced team is always happy to help.

What should I expect as a New Hire?

Initially, you will be onboarded in our system, completing orientations and documentations both remotely and in person with one of our team members.  After this, an appropriate placement will be provided which will require a specific orientation to the job performed by there CSO typically.  Our site managers are here to support and assist you, while the direction of work will be given by the super intendant for our customer and that job.  Remember it is always better to ask questions than to assume something.

What is a worker expected to provide?

Attitude and eagerness go along way, but it is also imperative we have a safe working environment for everyone on site.  Be familiar with the Safety material provided and where to find it.  You are responsible for providing your own Personal Protective equipment (PPE).  Most positions will require basic tools and a belt. Carpenters will need hand tools, drill and usually a saw. All specialty equipment will be provided by the job site, and any extras will be provided by our team upon request.

Down River Construction, working for you

Down River Construction provides site crews for general contractors and developers who look for a stable and reliable workforce in a temporary construction environment. Our rates are inclusive of the necessary participation of both Industry partners and First Nations Joint Ventures.  We offer living wages, that include extended health & dental, Canada Pension Plan, Worksafe and Insurance, Vacation, Holidays and sick days through our partners.

How does payment and Invoicing work?

Rates maybe adjusted for items such as excessive travel, shift differential, multiple accreditation’s lead roles and specialty skills.  Discounts can also be provided based on volume of work and frequency of payment (Net 15 VS Net 30 days) as well as other factors.  All timesheets are verified by the customer prior to invoicing.  We pay workers every 2 weeks and therefore require a Net 30, with delays facing a possible interest charges.
